Take the Virtual Tour! - THOMPSONS LAKE CAMPGROUND at Thacher State Park Thompson's Lake Campground at Thacher State Park, is a popular campground and recreation area. The park is situated along the Helderberg Escarpment and provides a marvelous panaroma of the Hudson-Mohawk Valley and the Adirondack and Green Mountains. In addition to its wooded campsites, the campground features a sandy beach, mixed hardwood and conifer forests, limestone outcroppings, and open fields. Recreational opportunities include a volleyball court, horseshoe pits, a playing field, swing sets, carry-in boat access, rental rowboats, fishing areas, and nature trails. Interpretive and recreational programs are offered for campers throughout the summer. During the winter, visitors can cross-country ski and ice fish. |

Each year the campground makes every effort to provide safe swimming opportunities by testing the water and by keeping the swimming areas staffed with lifeguards. Please be aware that if the safety of our swimmers is compromised, due to lack of lifeguard coverage or water quality issues, swimming will be prohibited and therefore cannot be a guaranteed activity. We apologize for this inconvenience as it may occur with little advance notice. See HERE for all current swimming closures! To insure fairness for all NY customers, any reservation with departure dates outside the 9-month Maximum Window can not be changed or cancelled until 18 days after the reservation was made. Only 2 pets per site are permitted. Current rabies certificate required. Pets must be on a leash no longer than 6ft at all times. Maximum of 2 vehicles allowed per site. Additional cars will be charged a fee. Campers arriving after 9 p.m. are asked to call the park or risk losing the reservation. Quiet hours are observed from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Any visitors must leave the park by 10 p.m. Please do not use bathroom sinks or water outlets to clean cooking utensils. Rowboat rentals are $8.00 per hour or $25.00 per day. They can be rented from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Paddleboat rentals are $5.00 per half hour. They can be rented from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The registrant must be at least 18 years old. Any children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Generator use allowable hours: 9am to 11am and 5pm to 9pm. Firearms, fireworks, chainsaws and subletting are not allowed at the park. Peak Season: During peak season, a camping party and their equipment may occupy a site for a maximum of 14 continuous days. After which, the camping party and equipment must leave the site and facility for 2 days before registering again for another site. Beach swimming, boating, fishing (and wintertime ice fishing) park-organized recreation activities are the campground's major activities. There are over 25 additional miles of trails for summer hiking and mountain biking, and winter cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and snowmobiling. The Emma Treadwell Thacher Center is located in the park and is accessible to campers. The center offers exhibits, interactive displays, trails for hiking and skiing, and educational programs. |
